7 Ways To Get More Feed Subscribers

February 2, 2011 · Blogs, Marketing · 1 Comment

  1. Promote your feed. Put your RSS feed link at or near the top of your sidebar. It doesn’t take up a lot of space.
  2. Bribe them. Give someone away for free. If you run a pregnancy site, give away a free report on how to get rid of morning sickness. It could be some PLR content or just a compilation of some older posts you’ve done on the topic.
  3. Show the full feed instead of the partial feed. Sure you’re giving the whole post away without enticing them to visit your blog, but we’re talking about how to increase your feed numbers here.
  4. Some of your blog readers don’t really know what RSS is. Give them a subscription box so they can sign up for updates via email.
  5. Is a particular post generating a lot of new traffic? If so, update the post to mention your rss feed. The reason not to mention it in every post is because it would be annoying to your subscribers.
  6. Give them a personalized welcome. With some coding to check the referring url, you could have a message above your content that reads “Glad you found us on Twitter, enjoy your stay and don’t forget to subscribe to get future updates”.
  7. Run an advertising campaign. While you may not want to pay top dollar, it’s worth it if you can get visits to your blog for a few cents each. You might want to think about setting up a splash page in which you prominently display your rss feed subscription button/box.
